FIJI Airports was the 2019 Fiji Water Supreme Award winner at the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards held over the weekend.
The state-owned enterprise was recognised for its achievements through the years in operating the Nadi International Airport, the Nausori airport and 13 outer island airports.
Fiji Airports chief executive officer Faiz Khan, who also won the Telecom Fiji Ltd Excellence in Business Leadership Award, said the accolades were a reflection of the hard work put in by their team.
“I am really humbled by it. We applied for it and we did not have any high expectations of winning, but here we are and I am truly grateful because this is because of my team,” he said.
“I am really happy with the work and the effort that they put into our work, day in and day out.
“They are committed to the little goals that we have while also maintaining our long-term goals and strategies which is commendable and must be applauded.”
He said ensuring that each airport ran smoothly was not an easy task. “We bring the world to Fiji by putting up world-class facilities, but at the same time we look after our smaller airports in Lau, Vanua Levu and Rotuma.
“We have people who have to ensure that the grass is cut constantly and make sure that there aren’t any issues with the runways. So there’s a lot of work put in by a lot of people and it’s a great feeling when these people are rewarded for their hard work.”
