Tonga volcanic eruption: Fijians in low-lying areas advised to move to safety; stay out of the water

Residents living in low-lying coastal areas are advised to move to safety in anticipation of strong currents and dangerous waves.

The Department of Mineral Resources issued the advice following the eruption of Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai undersea volcano in Tonga.

Members of the public are advised to stay out of the water and away from the shores.
