Tonga to improve defense

THE Tonga Residents are working on improving on their defence before their game against Fiji Residents tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium.
Coach Sione Tukuafu said it was important for the players to protect their territory and defence was one of their major focuses in their training before their big game against the Fiji Residents.
“For us our mental fitness is important playing in the full 40 minutes thinking that is enough but we have to push ourselves to the limit,” he said.
“One area we’re also looking in to is our ball handling and again keeping the structure that we implemented in our practice to keep that on the field as well.”
The team also took time out from their training schedules to visit the children at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital children’s ward.
The players gave out souvenirs to patients and spent time with them.
“It’s often that we forget how fortunate we are to play sports, this visit brings us back to our grounding and hopefully we can take this with us on the field and these children will remember us so this is a good motivation for our boys.
“We thank Fiji National Rugby League for giving us the opportunity to meet the children because this will boost the players’ morale on Saturday.”
Tonga will take on Fiji at the ANZ Stadium at 3pm tomorrow.
