Ratu Kadavulevu School principal Naisa Toko has been appointed as the acting president of the Fiji Secondary School Rugby League (FSSRL).

Toko replaces Akuila Vute who passed away in August.

FSSRL general secretary Taniela Vakamoce said the appointment was confirmed to Fiji National Rugby League on October 14 after a unanimous decision was reached by the executives during their meeting.

Vakamoce said Toko was a passionate leader in the game who had served at club and school level in a number of roles before taking up this acting appointment.

“He now shoulders the top FSSRL job into the 2022 season and looks forward to bringing in fresh initiatives to the game,” Vakamoce said.

The FSSRL managed to complete its 2021 Vodafone Trophy competition in April before sporting sanctions were imposed following the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

In the under-19 final, Nasinu Secondary School Panthers defeated RKS Eels 12-8, in the U17 final, RKS Eels downed Ba Provincial Dragons 18-14 while in the U15 final NSS Panthers beat Ba Pro Dragons 10-6.
