SQUASH Fiji has received a timely boost ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Information technology provider Virtual Flex Solutions Ltd gave them a sponsorship of $3000.

“Squash Fiji is grateful to Navin Lal of Virtual Flex for coming to our aid just before the team departed for the games,” section manager Dinesh Narayan said.

“Squash being a minor sport relies heavily on financial support from such businesses and individual to be able to send our elite athletes to compete at such prestigious events such as the Commonwealth Games.”

Narayan said the funds would assist the players during the competition. “Squash will be represented in four categories at this year’s games. Romit Meghji, Sailesh Pala and Stephen Henry will compete in the men’s singles event, while Alison Yee will be playing in the women’s singles events,” Narayan said.

“Romit will partner Sailesh in the men’s doubles event and Stephen and Alison will compete mixed doubles event.

Fiji will be represented in the squash competition after 12 years, and Squash Fiji is proud to be able to send a team to this year’s games.

“We hope these players will give their best, and learn from this experience where a few of the world’s top ranked players will also be taking part.”
