The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest has always allowed children from around the world a chance to be creative and to nurture a fondness for cars.

The contest, which was introduced in 2004 in Japan, has become a popular event for children in Fiji with many showing keen interest in the contest.

According to Toyota Dream Car Art Contest website despite the COVID-19 situation, entries in this year’s contest numbered about 1,190,000 from 75 countries and regions.

Hosted by Toyota Motor Corporation, the event is organised by its global network of automotive distributors and dealers around the world of which Asco Motors is a local distributor.

Asco Motors has given an avenue for children to dream big and be inspired through their paintwork or drawing skills with the theme “Your Dream Car” in the contest.

The contest is divided into three categories – from the age of seven below, from between the age of eight and 11 and 12 to 15.

Young minds are encouraged by Asco Motors to submit their entry forms together with their most creative art piece of their dream car to the Asco Motors marketing team and to be inspired in becoming one of the nine lucky winners to represent Fiji.

The winner gets a chance to travel to Japan with a parent.

There is no fee associated with entering the contest and the artwork must be hand-drawn with any paint media including water paint, colour markers or crayons.

Participants are encouraged to be creative in dreaming of a futuristic car with a background that supports the idea.

The drawing which will be viewed by a global audience should also appeal to people of diverse cultures.

In 2017, Opeti Chamber was a winner from Fiji who travelled to Japan with his father.

His winning entry was called “Red Mojo Automobile” where the vehicle had everything in it to rehabilitate communities after a natural disaster.

He was among winners from Australia, Mongolia, Guam and New Zealand.

The entry period is from December 1 this year to February 22, 2022.
