HINDI Poet Jainan Prasad was inspired by his sister-in-law’s jovial nature to make people laugh, hence the launch of his book Gudgudi meaning tickle.
Prasad said the book, containing 47 funny poems sure to put a smile on your face, was a tribute to his sister-in-law Kriti Prasad, who committed suicide in 2013.
He said it took him one year to put together the book, which was launched yesterday by Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy.
Mr Reddy, while addressing a handful of people who turned up to witness the launch, praised the efforts put in by Mr Prasad in reviving the art of writing and compiling original Hindi songs and poems.
Prasad said all poems one can find in the book were original poems.
“I was inspired by my wife’s younger sister,” Prasad said.
She loves to make people laugh and always has a jovial mood, but sadly she took her own life and this book is in memory of her,” Prasad said.
There are 500 copies available with 50 copies already sold during the launch at the Defence Club on Thursday. Prasad has already written two books and believes there is still more to do in terms of writing, printing and publishing poems and stories in Hindi.
