The place for that bottle of red

VICTORIA Wines, Fiji’s leading wine distributor, is one of the key sponsors of Fiji Tourism Expo (FTE) for the third year running with the Victoria Wines Food & Wine Festival.

This year the festival will open the expo’s official evening line-up of events, with a selection of culinary delights from Fiji’s top resorts and restaurants matched to a selection of wines from the key wine growing regions in the world.

The wine partners for the 2016 Food & Wine Festival are from New Zealand — Villa Maria, Australia — Yalumba, Chile — Luis Felipe Edwards, Argentina — Trapiche, France — Gerard Bertrand, and Italy — Bottega S.P.A.

“Fiji is building a reputation in the area of food and wine through the significant effort of individuals dedicated to developing outstanding culinary experiences and quality wine lists that compliment their menus,” commented Victoria Wines director, Kate Vusoniwailala.

“Victoria Wines has been working closely with its industry partners to support professional development for staff members and empower them with the confidence to ‘talk’ to their wine lists and recommend food and wine matches.

Our training efforts have been supported by master of wine and director of the New Zealand School of Wine & Spirits, Jane Skilton, through training courses that provide international accreditation. We are also very fortunate to receive excellent support from our wine suppliers in developing a program of events throughout the year in the form of Wine Dinners and Wine Tastings that provide the opportunity for our local community and visitors to Fiji to engage with and appreciate wine,” Ms Vusoniwailala adds.

A number of key individuals and restaurants have confirmed their participation in the festival this year, including Fiji’s culinary ambassador Chef Lance Seeto, Italian food importer and Restauranteur Flavio Pisano, new eating destinations: ‘Waitui’ at the Sofitel Resort & Spa and The Rhum-Bar at Denarau Yacht Club, and well established eating destinations: ‘V’ Restaurant at the Sofitel Resort & Spa, Chantara at Radisson Blu, the Hilton Fiji Resort & Spa, Sheraton featuring Flying Fish and Ports O’Call, The Kitchen from Westin, Mamasake from Oasis Resort and restaurants: Chefs, Hard Rock, Mamacita, Indigo, and Bonefish.

“The Food & Wine Festival is a unique component of FTE which is well received by overseas participants and Tourism Fiji welcomes Victoria Wines’ commitment to support the development of wine knowledge in Fiji through their sponsorship of the event,” said Tourism Fiji’s Global public relations manager Patricia Mallam.
