The newest fish and chips outlet

IF you’re in the mood for a takeaway meal, choose Farmers Fish & Chips for the best tasting meal in the Nausori, Sawani area.

Farmer’s Fish & Chips was established in October last year. Located next to the service station along Princess Rd in Sawani, the business is aligned with the operation of their service station business with the purpose to be convenient to their customers and also to add value to their service station sites.

Owner, Rajan Chaudhry said this was a joint decision by him and his father.

“Due to the growing competition in fuel and retail business I decided to convert an unused space at our Sawani service station into what it is now our famous fish & chips shop,” Mr Chaudhry explained.

“I took personal interest in this business and did a lot of research about what the customers wanted and what is most affordable for them and came up with the different types of batter and sauces to complement our offer to our growing customers.”

Unlike other traditional eateries, Farmers Fish & Chips was designed for their customers, to give them something more than just fuelling up at the service station. Few months after the Sawani outlet was opened, Farmers Fish and Chips opened another outlet at Nausori Town.

The fast-growing popular eatery is now attracting a lot of customers.

Mr Chaudhry said because of the high customer demand they were working on plans and designs to open another outlet at a major service station by the first quarter of next year.

“At present most of our loyal customers have to travel from Suva to either Sawani or Nausori to get their favourite meal so we’d like to make it more convenient for them,” he added.

Farmers Fish & Chips directly employ 130 people across all their business operations.

As a business owner, Mr Chaudhry faces the challenge of finding loyal and honest staff members, especially in retail business where there is high cash and stock flow.

He said larceny by servant rate was also very high and they had to keep a very close watch on all of these.

Aside from these challenges, the only other matter was to ensure best practise and keeping their signature taste up to par with the high demands from their customers.
