‘The best parade’

DESPITE having only six weeks to prepare for the annual passing-out parade, about 120 students of Nilsen College executed perfectly timed drills in what was called “the best parade put on by the school”.
Students braved the hot sun to put on a magnificent display of skills in front of parents, guests and chief guest Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau.
School’s vice-principal Neelam Naidu said they had passed through a turbulent time after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston devastated infrastructure.
“We were fortunate that classes weren’t affected. The training for this parade started in week 10 of the first term, under the guidance of officers from the Vatukoula Police Station.”
The program was revived in 2014 after it was stopped in 2008.
Mr Tagicakibau commended the students for their stellar performance and hard work, noting in particular the time invested by students and instructors in perfecting the drills.
