SUVA Zone Two athletics blue ribbon king Tevita Sokiveta of Suva Grammar School pointed to the heavens as he crossed the finish line dedicating his win to higher power at the ANZ stadium in Suva yesterday.

The soft-spoken 18-year-old from Nawaikama Village in Gau, did not mince his words relaying his win only to hard work.

“I thank God Almighty for the win and giving me the talent to compete,” Sokiveta said.

He dedicated his win to his family, especially to his father Tevita Rogo, a who is a member of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces 3FIR serving in the Golan Heights, Syria.

“This win is for him.

“He is always in my corner and I know he will be very proud of me today.”

Sokiveta said he also dedicated the win to his trainer and former Fiji athlete Jone Delai and their team officials.

“I thank the officials and fellow athletes for the sacrifice going into this competition and I know our preparation will intensify with the Coca-Cola Games around the corner.”

Sokiveta clocked an unofficial time of 11.14 seconds.

Meanwhile, SGS also claimed gold in the senior girls 100 metres event through track queen Salote Baravilala.
