RATU Navula College will be a force to reckon with at this year’s Nadi Zone and also at the Coca-Cola Games in Suva.

In its bid to stamp its mark in this year’s games, the Nadi-based school moved its inter-house competition to try out the synthetic tracks at Lautoka’s Churchill Park yesterday.

The school usually has its time trials at the school ground in the past years but decided to test their athletes early at the synthetic tracks.

Meet manager Mitieli Qumi said school athletics had transformed a lot compared with the past years.

He said competing at the synthetic tracks would make a huge difference in their performance.

“After three years we are having our inter-house competition again and its the first time to hold it here on synthetic tracks,” said Qumi.

“We normally hold our trials in school but this year we want to improve on our standard.

“Athletics have changed a lot and some schools have proven the advantage of competing at the synthetic tracks based on their performance at the Coca-Cola Games.”

“We want to test this out with the main aim is to improve the standard and to do well this year at the zone and the Coke Games.”

He said after yesterday’s performance the side would certainly lift its performance at the Nadi Zone and at the Fiji Finals.
