The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has set up tents and facilities outside the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) maternity and emergency unit car parks.

When we visited the CWM Hospital yesterday, tents were set up in the car park areas with doctors attending to patients inside the tents.

Health Ministry permanent secretary Dr James Fong said this was a precautionary measure to avoid mixing of COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients.

“The one at the maternity ward is a sorting area for patients while we await results,” he said.

“If they need urgent care, they will get that in the clinic space below (emergency entrance car park).”

Similar tents, with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) logo, were also set up at the Makoi Maternity Unit in Nasinu.
