Team Fiji Tennis started the country’s campaign at the Pacific Mini Games at Saipan, Northern Marianas with a bang by winning all its matches on Friday.

FASANOC reported that in the opening round-robin competition, the women’s side of Josephine Debalevu, Saoirse Breen and Ruby Coffin managed wins over Tahiti (3-0) and the Solomon Islands (3-0).

The men’s team, which comprised of Charles Cornish, William O’Connell and Sebastian Tikaram, cruised past FSM (3-0) and Tuvalu (2-1).

In the semi-finals yesterday, the Fijian women’s team faced Tonga while the men took on NMI.

Breen started the women’s win with a victory against Tahiti’s Vaiani Valleaux in the women’s singles 4-1, 4-1, Coffin bt Loi Fong 4-2, 4-0, and Coffin and Breen teamed up to beat the team of Mahetia Boosie and Valleaux 1-4, 5-3, 14-12.

Against Solomon Islands, Breen beat Zorika Morgan 4-0, 4-1, Coffin bt Chloe Collinson 4-2, 4-1 in the women’s singles.

The team of Debalevu and Coffin beat Chrisma Au and Marion Gaote’E 1-4, 4-1, 10-3 in the women’s doubles.

William O’Connell beat TJ Apis 4-2, 4-0, Tikaram beat Alex Panuelo 4-0, 4-0,

Men’s double:

Charles Cornish and William O’Connell beat Dion Jr Neth and TJ Apis. Against Tuvalu men, O’Connell beat Maka Foster Ofatui 4-2, 4-1, Tikaram beat Mathew Pase 3-5, 3-5

Doubles:

Cornish and O’Connell beat Faolaina Haleti and Ofati 5-4, 5-4.
