A PRIEST at the Shree Ramayan Mandali in Waila, Nausori, has expressed his disappointment after a temple was broken into for the third time in a month.
Janend Prasad said this was the 11th time their temple was robbed.
Some men allegedly broke into the temple early on Wednesday morning and stole several items from the temple.
Mr Prasad said they were concerned because the thieves were not only stealing money, but had also started stealing their musical instruments and eating utensils.
“We closed the temple around 1am. When we woke up in the morning, one side of the wall was broken and the louvre blades as well, and that’s when we found out someone had broken into the temple,” he said.
“I am very upset because this is the place we use for worship and some people just come and do this kind of thing to it.
“It’s very disrespectful,” he said.
“Before they used to take the money, but now they stole our tambourine, plates, spoons, knives and other things.”
He called on police to strengthen their presence around the Waila area to avoid this from happening again.
Police spokeswoman, Ana Naisoro said a report had been lodged and no arrests had been made yet.
