Technical group to assess 2018 BOG matches

THE Fiji Football Association, for the first time, had a Technical Study Group assess matches at the recent Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament.

Led by technical director Ravinesh Kumar, the group comprised of coaches and officials of the technical department.

Kumar said his team assessed all teams at the tournament and was working to prepare a report.

“This study is done in line with the FIFA Stat book. It will be very beneficiary to all districts and the Fiji Football Association as a whole. Teams can use the stats used to improve on in the next tournament,” Kumar said.

“What we are doing was done after the 2014 FIFA World Cup. I attended workshops which has helped me do similar things here in Fiji. These are strategies developed countries imply to progress in football.”

The study involves analysis of the game in all aspects from attack, defence, transition of attack and transition of defence.

Assessors also note down players who make immense contribution into the matches.

National coaches Marika Rodu, Kamal Swamy, Yogen Dutt, Sunil Kumar, Epeli Codro and Shalen Lal together with other technical officials were part of the group.

The 20-25 page report is scheduled to be out by next week.
