Swire Shipping Fijian Drua winger Onisi Ratave will play his last match for the local Super Rugby side tomorrow.

The 30-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Italy-based club Benetton effective from July 1, 2022 through to June 30, 2024.

Ratave lit up the National Provincial Championship in New Zealand last year for the Bay of Plenty side which propelled him into the radar of Super Rugby franchises.

Drua chief executive officer Brian Thorburn wished Ratave well on his new journey.

“Onisi was on a one-year contract with us and he had been an outstanding player for us this season.

“We wish him all the best in his rugby journey and fans should expect a good game from him as it will be his last time donning the Drua jersey.”

Thorburn says it is a great opportunity for Ratave that will benefit his family too.

“It will be a great opportunity not only for him but also for his family. These things happen and we do not expect to keep all of our players.

“We should not see it as a loss but a chance for another player to come up the ranks and shows us his worth.”
