THE Tabadamu rugby 7s team will be a threat to its opponents in its first outing in the Raka 7s tournament next weekend in Suva.

Despite majority of its players who featured in other clubs last year during the Raka 7s, the Tabadamu team will register for the first time in one of the country’s biggest 7s tournament.

Tabadamu team manager Ulaiasi Bolalailai said they would remain underdogs, and would not underestimate their opponents in the two-day tournament.

“This year will be our first year at the Raka 7s,” Bolalailai said.

“We will approach the tournament with caution and will leave our past winning records aside knowing it will be a tough competition.

“The team has three factors. They have been training hard to come out as winners and be spiritually fit on and off the field.

“We have to be ready and have to be mentally ready if we are going to be under pressure during our games.”

The four times Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament winners know the expectation in the Raka 7s tournament.

“We’ve been training together for a while and also played as a team using different names in other competitions.

“We will come as Tabadamu 7s team at the end of this month at the ANZ Stadium.

“We know there’s a tough road ahead with more than five games to play before the quarter-finals.”

Ratu Filise team from Namatakula on the Coral Coast is the defending champion after beating First Light Taveuni last year in the final.

The Raka 7s tournament will be held on November 30 to December 1 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
