FIJIAN badminton player Andra Whiteside believes team bonding is an important aspect of Team Fiji’s preparation to the 2019 Samoa Pacific Games in Samoa.

Whiteside was part of the Team Fiji Assembly held at the Grand Pacific Hotel last weekend that catered for athletes preparing for the games in Apia.

“One of the main highlights of the workshop that grabbed my attention was the talk on the importance of team culture,” she said.

“A big part of success is the culture we create within the team which is how we help each other up and be inspired by those around us.”

Whiteside will be one of the athletes looking to book a spot for Team Fiji for Samoa.

“With a strong bond within the team, this will help us drive our individual ambition. Without developing values and building cohesion as a team, we are more likely to fall short of our goals.”

Whiteside said the workshop was an opportunity for young athletes to connect with members of bigger sporting organisations.

“The workshop provided a good opportunity for our athletes, particularly junior members.”
