TD13F: Tropical Cyclone alert

Update: 11:23AM A TROPICAL cyclone alert is now in force for the Western Division, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Viti Levu, Lomaiviti and the southern Lau Group.

In a
special weather bulletin issued at 7.49am today, the Fiji Meteorological
Service says Tropical Depression 13F was located near 17.0 south 171.0 east or
about 690 kilometres west of Nadi and 700km west of Yasawa-i-Rara at 6am.

TD13F is
currently moving southwards at about 12km/hr and is expected to track
southeast, move towards the Fiji group and further intensify into a tropical
cyclone within the next 12 to 24 hours. Meanwhile, an active trough of low
pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over Fiji.

A flood
warning remains in force for low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent
to the downstream of Vatukacevaceva station to Rakiraki town and Emuri station
to Semo Village- Tuva river.

alert remains in force for low lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to
the major rivers of Fiji and for low lying areas, small streams and areas
adjacent to the downstream of Nasivi station to Tavua town, Dreketilailai
station to Qawa river, Votualevu station to Nadi town – Nadi river, Vatutu
station to Nadi town – Nawaka river.
