Savusavu residents in Cakaudrove awoke with a sense of déjà vu on Friday morning as yachts lay beached on Nawi Island.

Resident Roberta Lepper said it was just like TC Winston all over again.

Less than five years ago, they came across a similar sight where yachts were flung ashore by winds and waves whipped up by Tropical Cyclone (TC) Winston in 2016.

TC Yasa ravaged the hidden paradise and residents say it did not have the same effect as that of TC Winston.

Businessman Justin Hunter said that unlike TC Winston, TC Yasa did not come with devastating storm surges.

“While wind speed has created significant damage on land, we didn’t have the unique sea surge associated with (TC) Yasa as we did in Winston,” Mr Hunter said.
