AN evacuation centre on Rabi Island has been occupied.
Families from Tabwewa Village have been evacuated to the Banaban Primary School.
Rabi islander Terikano Takesau said the police and Fiji Red Cross officials helped the families evacuate.
“Police have been very helpful and have assisted with the evacuation of families,” Ms Takesau said.
“People are adhering to weather warning and are not taking any chances to risk their safety with this tropical depression.”
Ms Takesau said community leaders are working closely with Police in assisting villagers.
