TC Tino: Savusavu closes shop; Residents store up on food and water

Listen to this article:

MOST shops in Savusavu have closed as residents brace for Tropical Cyclone Tino.

Savusavu resident Paradise Tabucala said shoppers rushed to supermarkets to buy food and cartons of water in preparation for TC Tino.

“The weather is quite strange here in Savusavu with clouds hovering over the town and the surrounding mountains have disappeared into these clouds,” Ms Tabucala said.

“Supermarkets are packed with people buying food and water and business is quite slow today.”

A tropical cyclone warning remains in force for Rotuma, Cikobia, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.
