IT was business as usual in Nadi and Sigatoka yesterday as most parts of the Western Division did not feel the full brunt of Tropical Cyclone Tino.

Nadi Town Council and Sigatoka Town Council special administrators’ chairwoman Debra Sadranu said there were little disruptions caused by the Category 1 cyclone yesterday.

“We have our teams on standby but at the moment things are running as normal,” she said.

“Our council officers are monitoring the weather very closely and so far according to the Fiji Meteorological Service, the West is out of the cyclone’s path.

“With that information, we have been able to carry on with our work and so far we haven’t had any disruptions.

“We do sympathise with our people in the North and we pray that everyone comes out of this safe.”

According to the FMS, weather over the Western Division was generally overcast.

For Nadi, Lautoka and Ba, periods of heavy rain and squally thunderstorms were experienced with 45km/hr strong winds.
