FOOD security within the Northern Division has been severely affected after Tropical Cyclone Tino.

This was highlighted by the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) in a statement yesterday.

NDMO has revealed that a detailed damage assessment by the Ministry of Agriculture today should verify and determine the amount of food ration that would be required to sustain the severely affected communities.

“All critical and essential services in the Northern and Eastern divisions have been restored,” NDMO stated. According to NDMO, the Police Special Response Unit (PSRU) would continue with their search of the missing father and daughter in Navua. There operational focus was now on the deployment of humanitarian assistance for those who were severely affected by TC Tino.

“The detailed damaged assessments for housing and agriculture need to be carried out to determine shelter and food ration needs.”
