TC Keni departs, weather improves

SEVERE Tropical Cyclone Keni continues to weaken and move south-eastwards away from the Fiji Group, moving at 35 kilometres per hour.
A government statement yesterday said the system was located over the western part of Kadavu at 3pm yesterday.
On its current path, it is expected to lie about 240km southeast of Ono-i-Lau at about 4.40am today.
Winds over the northern, western and eastern parts of the Fiji Group are expected to ease and the storm is anticipated to weaken into a Category 2 system.
Winds are expected to gradually ease by today.
Periods of heavy rain and squally thunderstorms with rain are also expected to ease as the system moves south-eastwards.
