COMMISSIONER Northern Jovesa Vocea has called on communities of Vanua Levu to be on the alert and remain cautious in days to come, as Tropical Cyclone Josie continues to affect the nation.
All disciplinary forces including the National Fire Authority teams, Mr Vocea says have been roped in to assist when the need arises during these days of bad weather.
Although the North was spared from floods and damaging gale force winds, Mr Vocea said people should not be content with the situation but stay alert.
Mr Vocea activated all emergency operation centres in the three provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata and teams were monitoring the situation.
The teams would remain at work until the adverse weather is cleared by Government.
“We are closely monitoring the weather and the public should take heed of the current weather conditions,” he said.
No floods were reported for the North but Mr Vocea said the public should remain cautious.
