The Fiji Meteorological Service has confirmed a Tropical Cyclone Harold is now active near the Solomon Islands.
According to the national weather forecasting centre in Nadi, TC Harold is a category one system now and Fiji will start experiencing rainfall from its effect later today.
“It’s likely to track directly to Vanuatu and be exceptionally close to the capital Port Vila by Monday as a category 3 tropical cyclone,” Fiji Met stated.
“After Vanuatu, cyclone Harold will likely track over waters South of Fiji mid-next week but it will be well away from Fiji’s mainland.”
Fiji is expected to receive heavy rain from TC Harold for now.
