Taveuni bridges flooded and closed to traffic: FRA

THE Waibula bridge in Taveuni is closed due to flooding, according to the Fiji Roads Authority.

FRA is advising members of the public to stay off flooded roadways and do not drive into water of unknown depths and current because this can be life-threatening.

Labasa Police has confirmed that the Qeleni bridge in Taveuni is also underwater and has been closed off to traffic and pedestrians.

According to the Fiji Met Office, a heavy rain warning remains in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group and the other Eastern parts and Interior of Viti Levu.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for the rest of Fiji.
