Youths from Tamavua Village are taking a proactive approach to protect their families from the perils of COVID-19.

Members of the Tamavua Youth Club, Savura netters and rugby teams are manning a checkpoint where anyone entering the village needs to have their details recorded and temperature taken.

Tamavua Youth Club assistant leader Kinijioji Balawa said similar measures were taken last year.

He said it was not just the youths who were making the effort, family members were also pitching in to help with supplies for the checkpoint.

Mr Balawa said the protection was not just limited to the villagers, but members of the public travelling on Princes Rd were stopped for temperature checks.

“Some people are stopping to have their temperatures checked by us,” he said.

“This is a main road, and it runs through the village, so it’s good to see members of the public stopping to have their temperatures taken and record their details for having passed through here.”
