Take heed of advice, says Vocea

COMMISSIONER Northern Jovesa Vocea is urging members of the public to take heed of weather warnings.
“The weather is still not good and I urge everyone to listen to the weather updates on the news through radio, television and also through the newspapers,” he said.
Mr Vocea said their Northern Emergency Operation Centre had been monitoring the weather since last week.
“We heard about the weather advice from the weather office in Nadi about a tropical depression over Fiji since last week and since then our team has started monitoring,” he said.
“We are really fortunate here in the Northern Division that we did not reach to an extent where we have to get police and other authorities on standby or to open up evacuation centres, but we are still going with our monitoring.”
Mr Vocea said they needed the public to work with them keeping their children safe.
“Avoid sending your children alone to shops because anything can happen as the roads are slippery,” he said.
“Accidents do happen, so just to be on the safe side, please keep away from any harm during this weather.”
