THE second mobile medical team from Taiwan’s Cathay General Hospital (CGH) is back in the country and will be stationed at Labasa hospital from Monday, September 23, 2019.
The team will provide free medical services for northerners.
The Taipei Trade Office in Fiji has confirmed that the CGH team includes physicians specialised in Gastroenterology, Ear Nose Throat, family medicine and Anesthesiology.
It also notes that the medical team will bring portable ear and cardiac machines that can check the ear and the heart condition for the patients.
Since 2014 to 2019, 12 Taiwan CGH mobile medical teams comprising of 80 medical staff visited Fiji and examined around 6000 patients in Kadavu ,Rakiraki, Ba, Tavua, Lautoka, Sigatoka, Korolevu, Lomawai, Cuvu, Labasa, Nabouwalu, Savusavu, Seaqaqa.
The team also examined and treated more than 600 students of Marist Brothers High School and Yat-Sen Primary school in Suva.
CGH has visited Labasa hospital since 2016 after consultation with the Ministry of Health.
A statement from the trade office states that through providing assistance in health care, Taiwan hopes to play a role in promoting good health and healthy lifestyles, as well as strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
