THE Tailevu rugby team needs to beat Jack’s Nadi in the fourth round of the Skipper Cup competition this weekend at home. Tailevu team manager Lepani Matea said this game was crucial to them.

“Nadi is a good team and a respected provincial team,” Matea said.

“We’ve seen how they played against Naitasiri and there is no doubt they will apply the same pressure to us.”

Tailevu defeated Rewa 22-19 last week at Ratu Cakobau Park despite losing to Suva in the first round of the Skipper Cup competition 15-10 and also Namosi.

“We’re a buildup team from the Vanua Shield competition and majority of our players are young. Most of our players are unemployed and still young. Our aim is to expose them to high level competition.

“These are a good learning curve for the players to play against top teams such as Nadi and learn from them.”

Matea said the players had been adapting well to the type of training being conducted to them .

“We call on our supporters to come this weekend and cheer for our sons as they play Nadi.

“They need our support because this is a good development platform to expose raw talents.”
