The EMS Post Fiji Tabadamu Blue walked away $6000 richer after winning the men’s cup final of its 2nd Fiji Bitter-sponsored tournament beating Rawaisa Taveuni at the Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.
After scoring a try each in the first half, both sides defended their lines well until the sound of the half-time hooter.
A minute into the second spell, Tabadamu quickly added to their scoreboard, 10-5 for the lead. Raiwasa Taveiuni failed to gather the kickoff resulting in Tabadamu extending its lead.
With less than three minutes to go until the final hooter, Raiwasa Taveuni was able to find a gap in the Tabadamu defense for a final five-pointer.
Unfortunately, they were unable to equalise through their conversion, leaving the final score at. 17-15. After losing in the second elimination round of the 47th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s last weekend, the men in red and blue have been able to prove their worth by winning the men’s cup final.
Tabdamu defeated Warden Gold 17-10 in their quarter-final clash and beat Police White 5-0 in the semi-final.
Tabadamu Blues captain Josateki Tuilawaki says after going down in the elimination round of the 47th Fiji Bitter Marist, they took it upon themselves to win the Fiji bitter Tabadamu 7s.
“I just want to thank the boys for the hard work throughout the competition, they deserved the win,” he said.
