SUVA Football Association is looking for a permanent coach after Sam Lal’s term came to an end with a 5-0 loss to Ba in the second semi-final of the 2017 Courts Inter-District Championship in Lautoka last weekend.
Suva Football Association president Ritesh Pratap said they had an agreement with Lal who was supposed to coach the side until the IDC.
“We will advertise the expression of interest for the Suva’s coaching job and whoever wants to coach Suva can apply to us and then we will select our permanent coach who will coach the side on a full-time basis. If Sam Lal wants to apply for the coaching job then he can do so. ” Pratap said.
Pratap said he was disappointed with the performance of the players who showed lackluster performance in the loss to Ba in the semi-final.
“We looked after the players well where we accommodated the players and their wives in a hotel. We even bought their daily IDC tickets for them to watch the matches and the players also camped in a good environment at the Fiji Football Association academy and were given the best ground to train on and what else they wanted?
“We will have a meeting where we will discuss the next action to be taken.
“There was definitely something wrong with the players as for how they played in the semi-final against Ba after playing so well in the group matches, we need to know what happened, ” Prasad said.
Lal said he was also worried about the performance of the team. Meanwhile, Lautoka defeated Ba 5-4 in the penalty shootout in the final.
