Suspected rape case transferred

The case of the 54-year-old labourer accused of allegedly raping his four-year-old granddaughter in Ba last week has been transferred to the High Court in Lautoka.

The man appeared before Magistrate Samuela Qica yesterday charged with three counts of rape.

According to police, the sugarcane farm labourer allegedly raped the young girl several times last week at a cane field near the victim’s home.

The victim then relayed the alleged incident to her mother who reported the matter to the Ba Police Station.

The case has been transferred to the High Court in Lautoka and will be called on June 15.
