AN early morning high speed car chase by police resulted in the arrest of a suspect alleged to be involved in a robbery.

The suspect was one of two known robbery suspects in the car that veered of the Tamavua-i-wai Bridge at Delainavesi early yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Jokatama Qio said one of the suspects had been arrested and was in custody at the Totogo Police Station in Suva.

Mr Qio said police were still after the other suspect and investigations were continuing.

“One suspect was arrested during the car chase which started off in Suva and ended up at Delainavesi, at the Tamavua-i-wai Bridge,” Mr Qio said.

“The incident happened around this morning (yesterday) between 5am-5.30am. We don’t have any information about the stolen items.

“One of the suspects in the vehicle is a known suspect and police were looking out for him.

“This is why the car chase started, because of this known suspect.”
