Support for UN leadership

THE United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet has been assured of Fiji’s support towards her leadership of the UN Human Rights Council.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama made the assurance during a bilateral meeting with Ms Bachelet in Geneva.
Fiji was recently elected a member and now Vice President of the Council.
He also gave his reassurance that as a first pacific island nation Council member, the UN High Commissioner could count on Fiji’s support towards the work of the Council and its initiatives on climate change, environment, and internally displaced persons.
