Support for Fiji rugby league campaign

THE Fiji National Rugby League thanked the sponsors who believed in and backed them with financial aid and support in kind towards the 2017 Rugby League World Cup campaign.

FNRL launched their theme for the 2017 RLWC “Road to Glory” and also launched their jersey and other official wear at Fiji Museum on Friday.

Telecommunication company Vodafone Fiji Ltd has been their major sponsor with Pacific Energy, Asco Motors, Kriz Signs, FIJI Water, Sports World, Fiji TV, The Fiji Times, BLK for being their official merchandiser and Novotel.

FNRL chairman Filimoni Vosarogo said they were proud to have the support and the backing of the business houses.

“Our journey since we started in 1992 has not been easy and we have been blessed to have so many people and organisations who have supported FNRL and the Vodafone Fiji Bati and to them, I would be ever grateful,” he said at the RLWC cocktail launch.

“Through the years we have been tried by many things from administrations to the field, but despite the challenges we were able to reach the semi-finals of the Rugby League World Cup in 2008 and 2013.

“These achievements were a testament to the commitment by the players, management, officials, sponsors and the supporters and it shows collectively anything is possible and it is my plea that we need your support again.”

Fiji will play Wales, Italy, and the USA in pool matches at the RLWC 2017.

“We have seen how well our Fijian players are doing with the National Rugby League clubs in Australia. They are making a huge impact on the game with our style,” he added.

“Since the last RLWC we had been working for the tournament in October, the tournaments included Vodafone Cup, domestic tournament, May Test against Tonga and the upcoming Canada tour and the matches against Australia and Papua New Guinea in the Tri Nations competition.”
