The three finalists in the men’s Super Smash are all but set, with the Wellington Firebirds, Central Stags, and Canterbury Kings sitting pretty at the top of the table, 12 points clear of the chasing pack.

But which of them is favoured to finish first and advance straight to the grand final, a match they would host?

In the third instalment of Stuff’s weekly power rankings, one team has been placed above the others, but anything could happen across the final three weekends of the regular season.

There is more to play for in the women’s competition, where the top three teams – the Wellington Blaze, Auckland Hearts, and Canterbury Magicians – are yet to completely break clear.

But that could change as soon as Thursday, when the fourth-placed Northern Spirit host the third-placed Magicians in Hamilton, needing a win to really spice things up.
