Super Rugby: Sowakula happy to be home

FIJI born and Gallagher Chiefs backrower Pita Sowakula said it was exciting to back in Fiji and looking forward to playing in front of his home crowd and the Chiefs home ground away from home.

The Tagaqe native was swamped by his family members and friends when the Chiefs arrived at the Nausori International Airport yesterday.

“I am very excited to be back in Fiji and looking forward to a great game on Saturday,” Sowakula said.

The former Fiji 7s squad member who now plys his trade in New Zealand knows it will be a tough match especially playing against his countrymen Sevu Reece and Manasa Mataele on the opposite side.

“With the boys in the Crusaders it will be tough.

I didn’t get a chance to play last year and will see how it goes this week and hopefully I’ll get a run on Saturday.

Both teams were greeted by the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Alipate Nagata as well as a cheering crowd of Super Rugby supporters.

The Gallagher Chiefs will take on the BNZ Crusaders this Saturday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
