Students visit Times

SPEAKING in English to children in schools should be a must, especially in village schools.

This is the view of Buliya Village Kindergarten teacher Bereta Waqamailau.

Ms Waqamailau has only spent two years at the Kadavu-based school but believes that developing children’s language skills at a very young age is very important.

Her 11 students and 18 parents had a chance to tour The Fiji Times Ltd on Friday as part of their one-week school excursion.

“Buliya Village is located closely to Dravuni where cruise-liners always visit us, so these children often interact with tourists almost all the time,” she said.
