MORE than 350 students of Suva Primary School showcased their skills during the Test and Enterprising program that was held at the school yesterday.

Chief guest at the event, Fiji National University’s (FNU) Associate Dean, College of Engineering, Science and Technology, Salabogi Mavoa told the students that learning all skills for a particular job was prime.

“You need all the skills for the entire job that you do, don’t just focus on one skill for a particular job,” Mr Mavoa said.

“It is important for us to work as a team and at times, we might only focus on one type of skill, but we might forget that there are other types of skills.”

He told the students that the most important thing in life was their relationship with God.

Suva Primary School headteacher, Brij Singh said yesterday was the first time for the school to hold the event which was an initiative by the Ministry of Education.

“We have initiated this program with the help of the parents, teachers and the school management board.

“Today (yesterday) the children have showcased their skills on how to do screen printing, make jewellery, use coconut leaves for artwork, cake decorating, flower arrangements and even art and craft,” Mr Singh said.

He said now, the individual skills were needed for one to earn their own money and look after themselves.
