Update: 3:05PM STUDENTS from primary and high schools in Lautoka came together to celebrate World Water Day in the Sugar City, focusing on the theme “Nature for Water”.

Infrastructure Minister Parveen Kumar said this was the 25th year for the event to be marked.

“It is also an opportunity for us to learn more about water-related issues both locally and within a global context, to create awareness and take action to make a difference in our community,” he said.

Students also designed posters and placards and a range of events are ongoing for the duration of the day.

A mangrove planting session in Saweni has also been planned for this afternoon.
