STUDENTS of more than 35 primary and secondary schools in Suva flocked to Nabua Secondary School to know more about their dream careers.
The Education Ministry in conjunction with several universities, organisations and training schools held a one-day careers expo at the school yesterday.
Senior education officer Careers at the Education Ministry, Aminiasi Voresara, said 19 secondary schools and 20 primary schools were part of the expo.
“Career education and guidance play an important role in the curriculum that supports students’ interest, strength and aspirations,” Mr Voresara said.
He said 10 career expos were planned for this year and this also included visiting maritime islands such as Rotuma and Koro.
Mr Voresara also confirmed two expos had been conducted already for schools in Tailevu and Nausori.
“Career education helps students make informed decisions about their subject choices and career pathways,” he said.
“We must equip our children from as early as kindergarten so that is why we are moving around conducting expos so that they are well informed.”
Mr Voresara urged parents and guardians to invest more time on their children’s education.
