Information of students kept in the Fiji Education Management Information System (FEMIS) records with the Ministry of Education will be used for the disbursement of Government’s $60 million inflation mitigation package.

Minister for Education Premila Kumar said people could apply for the assistance when the Ministry of Economy announced the application process.

For those who are not enrolled in school, Mrs Kumar said they could apply to the Ministry of Economy because her team would not have their information.

“Their parents can fill the forms and apply, but that will all be made known by the Ministry of Economy,” she said.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said during the budget announcement that families with a combined annual income of $50,000 or less would be provided assistance of $180 a child over a six-month period.

The assistance is worked out at $1 a day per child in each family, or $7 a week or around $30 a month, making for a total of $180 a child in six months.
