Two iconic locally-owned properties in the Mamanuca group have up their game in providing an authentic Fijian holiday experience to international visitors.

Ahura Resorts managing director Tony Whitton said Malolo Island Resort and Likuliku Lagoon have recorded strong occupancies these past weeks and staff had ensured the best holiday experience was provided to guests.

Mr Whitton said the local tourism sector’s recent ranking as number one in the Asia Pacific region had been an added boost to many.

“So what do we do with this news? One thing for sure is to not rest on our laurels and become complacent,” he said.

“For our Rosie and Ahura resorts operations more than ever the delivery of the authentic ‘Fijian holiday experience’ to our international visitors has to be of the highest standards and at good value.

“We have a lot of amazing natural assets in our country, the warmth of our Fijian people, and our authentic culture.

“But for our business, every day has to be a journey of excellence, a discipline of constant and never-ending improvement as these Asian economies in this list will start to open again and compete directly with Fiji in 2023.”

Mr Whitton explained the high vaccination coverage and many other safety protocols launched prior to international border reopening allowed the safe return of thousands of guests back to Fiji.

He said the two resorts were almost back to their 2019 figures, a testament of visitors’ love for Fiji.

Mr Whitton added Malolo continued to have a big season with its family market, while their luxury end Likuliku Lagoon experienced good occupancies from the US and Australia.
