THE Cautata village development committee has developed strategic business plans to cater for the increasing school dropouts and unemployed youths in the village.

This was revealed by the committee’s chairman Akuila Sovanaivalu during a talanoa session with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, after the opening of a teacher’s quarter at Cautata District School in Bau, Tailevu yesterday.

In a survey conducted by the committee in 2015, he said they had identified an increase in school dropouts and unemployed youths.

“Forty percent of the population of this village are youths, we have found out that most of them have dropped out of school because they are not good in academic work,” Mr Sovanaivalu said.

“So we have tapped into other areas to help employed our youths because some of them have skills in trade that they can use to generate income.
