Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has urged iTaukei land owners to refrain from listening to the lies of the Opposition that “their land is not safe under the FijiFirst Government”.

He made the comment during the Lomaiviti Provincial Council meeting in Nasova, Levuka yesterday.

Mr Bainimarama said the Government had injected millions of dollars in funds to upgrade village and rural development.

“Our economy is booming; don’t listen to people who criticise the economy because they don’t know anything about it,” he said.

“As we approach the general elections, some politicians are using the iTaukei land issue as a political gimmick.

“We know their agenda, which is to simply scare the iTaukei people, and be very careful of such politicians.”

Mr Bainimarama said the iTaukei land was safe under the 2013 Constitution.

“We have developed land in Vuda and Tavua that will benefit iTaukei lands. “Make sure of Bill 17, to develop your land.”
