THE 30 days declaration of the State of Natural Disaster for Severe Tropical Cyclone Harold  has ended yesterday.

Minister for National Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu while speaking at a press conference this morning said the final damage assessment report and a subsequent report would be forwarded to cabinet as per Government’s normal practice and procedures.

“Government has spent about $6m already in the cost of the operations in our response to TC Harold,” Mr Seruiratu said.

He said the Government used closed to $3.6m in the first wave of response.

The high cost  was mainly due to the hiring of private vessels.
